1).Oranges were originally green.


The first oranges ever imported from to the West were from Southeast Asia and were tangerine-pomelo hybrids that were green in color.
In fact, oranges grown in warmer parts of the world such as Vietnam and Thailand stay green throughout their lifetime.

3).Antarctica is the world’s largest desert.


The Antarctic Polar Desert covers the Antarctica continent and covers roughly 5.5 million square miles.
The Sahara Desert covers roughly 3.6 million square miles.

Released in September of that year, The Power of Love was a silent film and was released in cinemas worldwide.
It even came with alternative ending that was decided by closing one eye or the other!
Sadly, the film is lost and hasn’t been found for decades!

At an altitude of 2,444 meters, the Chail Cricket Ground in Chail, Himachal Pradesh, is the highest in the world. It was built in 1893 and is a part of the Chail Military School.

13). The Indian national Kabaddi team has won all World Cups.


India has won all 5 men's Kabaddi World Cups held till now and have been undefeated throughout these tournaments. The Indian women's team has also won all Kabaddi World Cups held till date.

14).Water on the moon was discovered by India.

In September 2009, India's ISRO Chandrayaan- 1 using its Moon Mineralogy Mapper detected water on the moon for the first time.

15). Science day in Switzerland is dedicated to Ex-Indian President, APJ Abdul Kalam.

The father of India's missile programme had visited Switzerland back in 2006. Upon his arrival, Switzerland declared May 26th as Science Day.

When Dr Rajendra Prasad was appointed the President of India, he only took 50% of his salary, claiming he did not require more than that. Towards the end of his 12-year tenure he only took 25% of his salary. The salary of the President was Rs 10,000 back then.

Since we have to piece everything we know about dinosaurs together from scattered fossils, our picture of how they appeared and behaved changes as we find more. For one, many (non-flying) dinosaurs, including the velociraptor, had feathers, but it's unlikely that any of them had the vocal chords to roar. Also, those fierce velociraptors were no bigger than a modern turkey.


Don't let all this get you down, though! It turns out that sauropods (long-necked, long-tailed herbivores like the Apatosaurus) could probably break the sound barrier with their tails, using them just like whips.

They feast on fruit that's fallen off the tree and, in their drunken stupor, think it's a good idea to attack something much bigger than they are.

Your brain consists of about one billion nerve cells, or neurons. Each neuron connects to about a thousand other neurons for a total of over a trillion connections. Unfortunately, scientists have yet to determine why, with all that memory capacity, you still can't remember where you put your car keys.

How's that for unbelievable? Crocodiles are more closely related to birds than they are to lizards. According to a study by scientists at UC Santa Cruz, "Crocodiles are the closest living relatives of the birds, sharing a common ancestor that lived around 240 million years ago and also gave rise to the dinosaurs." The study was performed on crocodilian genomes, and it shows an "exceptionally slow" rate of genome evolution in the crocodilians.


21).The Heaviest Pumpkin Ever Weighed More Than A Ton.


The final weight? 2,624 pounds. According to Guinness World Records, the pumpkin was grown by Mathias Willemijns in Ludwigsburg, Germany. And, apparently, growing car-sized pumpkins is a big thing, and a competitive one at that. Before Willemijns' record was set, the largest pumpkin recorded prior was 1,054 kilos, or 2,323 pounds. It was grown by Swiss farmer Beni Meier in 2014.

22).Apollo 11 Astronauts Had to Go Through Customs After Returning from the Moon.


And you thought you had a long flight. After returning from the moon, astronauts from Apollo 11—Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins—had to go through customs. Yup, you read that correctly. Astronauts, they're just like us. According to documentation, they declared things like moon rocks, moon dust, and other lunar samples. Today, astronauts still have to go through customs but for more practical reasons. The more you know.

23).Spider Silk Is Stronger than Steel.


Spider silk is stronger than steel. The material is light and flexible, and may even be used by soldiers one day to protect them from bullets and other harm on the battlefield. However, producing and harvesting enough spider silk to make products such as protective wear for the military and even surgical sutures has been difficult. A tangled web indeed.
